{"id":1471,"date":"2014-01-09T18:07:10","date_gmt":"2014-01-09T17:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hacklabterni.org\/?p=1471"},"modified":"2014-01-26T15:45:33","modified_gmt":"2014-01-26T14:45:33","slug":"chaotic-robots-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hacklabterni.org\/?p=1471","title":{"rendered":"Chaotic Robots Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/84891870?color=ffffff\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Italiano \/ <em>English<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Per la mostra <a href=\"https:\/\/hacklabterni.org\/?p=1452\" target=\"_blank\">Contemporanea4<\/a> abbiamo creato quattro piccoli robot caotici, di tipo <a title=\"wiki\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beam-wiki.org\/wiki\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\">BEAM<\/a>\u00a0(Biology Electronics Aesthetics Mechanics).<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nQuesti robot si muovono alla ricerca della luce ma, appena la trovano, la rifuggono, seguendo delle traiettorie caotiche, in senso fisico-matematico.<br \/>\nInfatti le loro traiettorie hanno le seguenti caratteristiche:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cambiando di poco le condizioni di partenza, le traiettorie seguite saranno molto diverse tra loro<\/li>\n<li>le traiettorie sono imprevedibili a lungo termine<\/li>\n<li>esse rimangono confinate in uno spazio finito.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La \u201cintelligenza\u201d dei robot \u00e8 data da un circuito semplicissimo, che simula una minuscola rete neurale, formata da due neuroni (transistor).<\/p>\n<p>Nonostante la semplicit\u00e0 della loro struttura e della loro &#8220;intelligenza&#8221;, i robot riescono a &#8220;decidere&#8221; autonomamente la traiettoria da seguire, e questa si rivela estremamente complessa.<br \/>\nOtteniamo in questo modo una conferma del fatto che, in natura, la regola \u00e8 il caos, mentre l&#8217;ordine \u00e8 l&#8217;eccezione.<\/p>\n<p><del>Stiamo ancora lavorando ad una modifica che render\u00e0 i robot anche &#8220;artisti&#8221;, infatti montando un LED bianco ad alta luminosit\u00e0 su ogni robot e riprendendo il loro moto tramite una webcam, possiamo visualizzare in una proiezione le traiettorie tracciate dai robot.<\/del> Abbiamo montato un LED bianco ad alta luminosit\u00e0 su ogni robot e riprendendo il loro moto tramite una webcam, possiamo visualizzare in una proiezione le traiettorie tracciate dai robot. I LED sono inseriti in palline da ping-pong per ingrandire il punto luminoso tracciato dalla webcam.<\/p>\n<p>I circuiti utilizzati per i robot sono stati costruiti con la nostra CNC e gli spot di luce sono fatti con barattoli di yogurt in plastica.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dev.hacklabterni.org\/projects\/beam\/wiki\" target=\"_blank\">Qui<\/a> c&#8217;\u00e8 il nostro wiki del progetto. In fondo all&#8217;articolo alcune foto ed un video delle fasi di lavorazione.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><em>For the exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/hacklabterni.org\/?p=1452\" target=\"_blank\">Contemporanea4<\/a>\u00a0we created four <a title=\"wiki\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beam-wiki.org\/wiki\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\">BEAM<\/a>\u00a0(Biology Electronics Aesthetics Mechanics) chaotic robots.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> These robots move in search of light, but as soon as they find it, they shun it, following chaotic trajectories in the physical-mathematical meaning.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Indeed their trajectories have the following characteristics:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>changing slightly the starting conditions, the trajectories followed will be very different from one another<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>the trajectories are long-term\u00a0unpredictable<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>they remain confined to a finite space.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The &#8220;intelligence&#8221; of the robots is given by a simple circuit, which simulates a tiny neural network, formed by two neurons (transistors).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Despite the simplicity of their structure and &#8220;intelligence&#8221;, the robots can &#8220;decide&#8221; independently the path to follow, and it reveals to be extremely complex.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In this way we get a confirmation of the fact that, in nature, chaos is the rule, while order is the exception.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><del>We are still working on an update that will make the robots perform as &#8220;artists&#8221;, in fact, fitting a high intensity LED on each robot and recording their motion by a webcam, we will be able to see a projection of their trajectories.<\/del>\u00a0We have fitted a high intensity LED on each robot and recording their motion by a webcam, we are able to see a projection of their trajectories. The LEDs are placed in ping-pong balls in order to enlarge the bright spot tracked by the webcam.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The circuits used for the robots were etched with our CNC and the light spots were
