La scatola mylar-bolante, da non confondere con il caleidoscopio, è un generatore tubolare di riflessi di luce portatile 🙂
The light box, not to be confused with the kaleidoscope, is a portable tubular generator of light reflections 🙂
L’abbiamo vista qui ed abbiamo voluto provarla.
Costruirla è abbastanza semplice: si parte da una cornice di cartone (che avevamo preparato in precedenza ritagliando due facce di una scatola di cartone con un taglierino) e si chiude uno dei due lati aperti con un foglio di plastica trasparente.
Poi si realizzano i cilindri con il mylar. Il mylar si trova in commercio sotto forma di buste per regalo oppure si può riciclare dagli incarti di uova di Pasqua, merendine, figurine ecc.
Si mettono i cilindri nella scatola, accorciandoli se escono fuori in altezza. Infine si chiude la scatola con un foglio di carta da lucido, nel lato rimasto aperto.
A questo punto, mettendo la scatola di fronte a una sorgente di luce, ci si gode lo spettacolo dei riflessi di luce generati dalla scatola. Abbiamo dato ai ragazzi anche dei LED colorati con una pila a pasticca per qualche esperimento con la luce colorata.

Building the light box is quite simple: start with a cardboard frame (we had previously prepared it by cutting two sides of a cardboard box with a cutter) and close one of the two open sides with a sheet of transparent plastic.
Then realize the cylinders with the mylar. The mylar is available commercially in the form of bags for gift or you can recycle the wrappers of Easter eggs, snacks, stickers, etc..
Put the cylinders in the box (shorten them if they come out in height). Finally close the box with a sheet of tracing paper, on the open side.
At this point you can place the box in front of a light source and enjoy the spectacle of light reflections generated from the box. We also gave the kids some colored LEDs with a 3V battery to experiment with colored light.
